Exhibits

The Rye Historical Society regularly mounts exhibits at both the Square House and the Knapp House relating to local places, events and residents of particular historical interest. Recent exhibits include "Developing Rye: 1866-1929," "The Birth of Rye Town Park," "Edith Read: In Her Own Words," "All Fired Up! Salt-Fired Wares 1700's - 2008 with Potter Bruce Dehnert" and "A Day in the Life of Rye: A Photographic Essay 1876 - 2010." Exhibits also showcase the works of local artists, such as painters Ellen Liman ("Reflections of Kirby Mill Pond") and Mark Cassata ("Reflections of Sea & Sky: Works on Paper"). Information on past exhibits is available at the Square House, as well as framed photographs from "A Day in the Life of Rye" which can be purchased for $30.
