The Rye Historical Society relies almost exclusively on the generosity of the local community. Your support makes Rye History possible. It helps illuminate our past and educate our future.
Donate, Become a Member, or Historic Marker
People support RHS by visiting our exhibits, participating in our programs and attending our gala. But here are three additional ways:
1.) MAKE A DONATION 2.) BECOME A MEMBER 3.) SIGN UP FOR A HISTORIC MARKER
Your Donation Supports:
Educational Programs
We help our local students experience history first hand. We develop fresh and informative programming for both adults and children.
Exhibits, Events & Film Series
Your Support funds our highly acclaimed retrospectives, lecture and on-going activities. All free to the public.
Preservation of Local Archives
We curate Rye’s historic documents that tell our collective narrative. Feel free to access these records for research or mere curiosity.
Maintaining Historic Buildings
We maintain two of the oldest buildings in Westchester: the Square House Museum and Knapp House. Because once they’re gone, they’re gone forever.
Community Pride
We celebrate our local history and defend the charm, architecture and character of our beloved community.

Did you know that many companies offer matching gift programs that can match your contribution; can double or even triple your impact? By taking a few minutes to check if your employer participates, you can make an even greater difference in supporting our cause.
Also, please consider us in your estate planning. The contribution of funds or property to the Rye Historical Society through trust agreements or bequests will help the Society in the future and provide you with the satisfaction of making a gift in the present.
Gifts of stock are also accepted. Please contact Anne Gold (Executive Director) for instructions about stock transfers.
Homeowners can now celebrate Rye history by participating in our new Historic Marker Program. If your home was built before 1942, the year Rye became a city, you can purchase a bronze marker to be placed on your home. Application and guidelines are available here:
